Cally Shadowshot Came to Aspen to Find Culture and Adventure

Born and raised in South Africa, Cally grew up exposed to a multitude of cultures. She moved from a small farming area to the major metropolitan city of Durban at the age of six. Even at that young age, she was already realizing that there were many great adventures to be had out in the world. She wanted to take in all that she could, so at 14 she got her first job, saved up her money, and bought her first motorcycle just so she could get around the city.

After finishing school, she managed one of the area’s top restaurants, learning a great deal about food and wine, getting her first taste of “the finer things in life.” She took that knowledge and decided that the best way to learn was by firsthand experience. So she headed off to Surrey, England to manage a Bed & Breakfast.

Roughing It
While Cally spent time polishing her appreciation for international fare, she also longed to live a life of rugged simplicity. So, in her characteristic flare for exploration, she set off to Central America. There, she had some of the greatest adventures of her life – trekking across Guatemala, traveling to Honduras, visiting El Salvador, living on the island of Roatan, and earning her certification as an open-water diver. Though she loved all of her journeys, she sought a place to call home that would speak to both her adventurous and refined sides.

Finding Home
Cally found that home when she moved to Aspen more than a decade ago. As a corporate flight attendant and an expert in the international hospitality industry, Cally was familiar with well-known and hidden corners of the world.
